From cameos to playing an impactful role as villain in Mardaani (2014), and then following it up with an action thriller, a biographical drama and a college set comedy-with-apurpose among others, Tahir Raj Bhasin has ensured his path in Bollywood is defined by ample diversity.

And the actor is gladly continuing on this journey with the latest projects he has signed up for.

“For me, it’s an amazing start to 2020! I have been in fifth gear since the year began. There’s not just one, but two romantic things that are happening at the same time. The first is a series that I am currently working on, and now there is Looop Lapeta, which is going to be a remake of [German film] Run Lola Run (1998),” Tahir, who will also be seen in a much-anticipated sports drama, tells us.

He believes his turn as the sports enthusiast Derek in Chhichhore (2019) has been such a game-changer that studios are now starting to see him as an actor who can play a good and a bad guy.

“I think the fact that I’ve played diverse parts all these years is now suddenly culminating into the kind of work I am doing,” adds the actor, who credits the audience too for driving the change. “The audience now doesn’t like just a star, they like the person behind the stardom,” Tahir adds. This, he believes, has a lot to do with the influence that international OTT platforms have had on audience’s behaviour. And to top that, Tahir is being conscious about doing different things himself.

“What keeps me interested and engaged as an artiste is to not get bored with what I am doing, and not to fall into a pattern,” says the Delhi boy, who finds it “extremely exciting that one can be juggling genres and platforms” nowadays and the audience loves it all.

Ask him how he would define his taste in projects, he says, “Anything out of the box, which excites me as an actor, and something which, at the end of the day, leaves the audience with something when they leave the theatre.”
