Capital welcomes India’s biggest fitness festival

Delhiites were treated to two mega events recently — the first edition of the Re:Ignite Fitness Fest and the first-ever Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) India Nationals. Held across two days, sports commentato­r Jatin Sapru led both the events which saw over 2000 enthusiast­ic participan­ts.

A delight for fitness and health enthusiast­s, the first day of the Re:Ignite Fitness Fest was led by prominent change-makers like world kick-boxing champion Drew Neal, IBBF athlete Sonali Swami, zumba trainer Padmavati Iyengar and fitness coach Vinay Sangwan.

Several workshops were also held including ones on zumba, kick-boxing, kettlebell workouts as well as cross-fit challenges to learn from the expert.

The day concluded with a performanc­e by an alt-rock band, The Yellow Diary.

Day two saw the world’s biggest grappling tournament — the ADCC India Nationals, which saw over 300 athletes including over 100 women grapplers from all over the country. Ashwin Hoon from Gurugram was crowned the Best Grappler in India, and will now represent India at the Asian qualifiers.

Speaking at the event, Annu Talwar and Siddharth Singh, founders of Re:Ignite Fitness Fest said, “We are very excited to bring a unique fitness festival, a combinatio­n of fitness workshops and the ADCC Grappling Tournament. Our aim with the Re:Ignite Fitness Fest is to make fitness and healthy living a priority among people.” They further added, “We are pleased to associate with relevant partners and are excited to have brought a new category of festivals in India apart from music and food.”
