After proving his mettle in films such as Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008), the Fukrey franchise and Dream Girl (2019), actor Manjot Singh is finally ready to branch out and experiment with the web space. Set to star in a short film titled Chajju Ke Dahi Bhalle, he says web offers haven’t been pouring in.

“They haven’t been enough for me to choose from. They are limited. Today, getting work is easy, but getting something which is good is the struggle. Your graph is as good as the work you do. Touchwood, my work has been good so far. Ups and downs are part of everyone’s life, I am hoping for the best,” says the 27-year-old.

As he mentions ups and downs, we ask whether he and his family are satisfied with his career so far. He says, “Na family, na main, koi satisfied nahin hai. I still have to do a lot of work, there’s still a lot of struggle everyday. If you get an award, the struggle is to ensure you do a film for another award next time. In today’s time, one doesn’t even talk about (a film) earning less than ₹100 crores, that’s the benchmark. If that happens, only then your rate will increase.”

Singh also rues that filmmakers haven’t exploited his talent enough. “Lagta hai unhone sirf 10 to 20% hi dekha hai. I have a lot more to show. There are a lot more graphs I can portray. I want to do something serious. I’m glad I got a call for Chajju…from Guneet Monga. The director, Gautam Govind Sharma, told me ‘maine script tujhe dimaag mein rakh ke likhi hai’. That’s a big thing for me. Auditions se seedha narrations,” he gushes.
