From being an avid music lover and getting featured in music videos to now prepping for her singing debut, life has certainly come full circle for Yuvika Chaudhary. Glad that her love for music has opened up opportunities for her to pursue it professionally, the actor calls it a “giant leap” in her career.

“I am so excited about my first song and I’m going to shoot its video soon,” says Chaudhary, quick to credit her husband, actor Prince Narula, for sowing this seed of music in her.

“I got into music because of Prince, and the singing culture of Punjab had already caught my attention. Once we were in the music studio where Prince was recording a song. He randomly asked me, ‘Why don’t you try singing with me?’ I was shocked because I never thought that I could stand in front of the mic and record a song,” shares the 35-year-old.

It wasn’t an easy ride for Chaudhary to shed her inhibitions, and she faced a lot of challenges before she finally got hooked. “I feel very shy in front of the mic. I even asked Prince to go out of the recording room as he was making me conscious. I didn’t know how I’d sound on mic, especially coming from a nonsinging background without any riyaaz or knowledge of music,” shares the Om Shanti Om (2007) actor, adding that while she’s really excited about trying something new, she won’t stop acting to pursue singing.

Going down memory lane, Chaudhary even regrets leaving some opportunities to feature in music videos that

came her way during the initial stage of her career. “I was approached for B Praak’s single, Mann Bharrya... But I was overthinking and didn’t feel like doing it. Later, I felt mujhe kar lena chahiye tha,” says the actor, who seems to have made up for the loss, as she will be seen in the music video of the song Chor by singer Ninja that releases on Women’s Day.

“It has beautiful lyrics and I just couldn’t say no to it. I’ve realised that the songs which connect with your heart, you should go ahead with them,” says Chaudhary.
