Films that reflect life have a different mazaa: Rajpal Yadav
In a small but significant part, actor Rajpal Yadav made an impact with his negative role in Jungle back in 2000. Cut to 2020, he has a rich and versatile filmography, and he hopes to continue entertaining.
“My craft is alive because of the audience’s and fans’ love, and God’s and parents’ blessings,” says the actor, who promises that the audience will see him in a good slate of films this year.
“Entertaining cinema gives you the provision of serious and comical plots. Life doesn’t work only with comedy or with mere seriousness. Life ki tarah jo filmein milti hain, unko karne ka alag mazaa hota hai,” he adds, stressing that it is the “genre of entertainment” that will never go out of vogue.
“Sometimes there is social entertainment and sometimes political. Sometimes there is comedy, and sometimes there is satire... If, in the hustle bustle of life, we keep ourselves entertained, then I think we are all blessed,” says the actor, who believes that the key to growth lies in learning something new every day.
Yadav insists that, as an actor, it is one’s responsibility to keep surprising the audience with hard work and talent. “I’m the only guy who has played a mazdoor in Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain (2014), a complex husband in Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh (2005), a lunatic in Hungama (2003), a pandit in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), a servant in Chup Chup Ke (2006)... I am the luckiest man. Yes, people do tend to stereotype an actor once they like him in a certain avatar, but I really like it that I keep challenging myself,” says Yadav, adding that whenever he gets two roles of similar nature, he will “challenge that and make it different”.
