Why Salman inspires Mohammad Nazim
Given the proliferation of content via web and films, talks regarding how the small screen must scale up its content, and experiment, has been gaining ground. While many may feel that it’s time for TV to focus more on realistic content, some argue that the audience isn’t totally ready yet.
Mention the debate to actor Mohammad Nazim and he opines, “It’s the saas-bahu sagas that bring in the real money as people still watch over-the-top drama”.
Agreeing that the TV industry is changing and different kind of content is coming up, Nazim still feels the process is slow because of saas-bahu dramas. “If there is no drama in any show, it won’t work. From Shakti to Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai to other famous shows that are running for a long time, they all are high on drama,” says the actor, who was last seen in Bahu Begam that went off air this January.
Having said that, the actor is quick to clarify that while he’s not against such shows, he is keen on exploring newer avenues.
“I want to do some action roles with a little touch of comedy and romance. Not many know that I’m good at mimicry. I think given my look and the kind of shows I’ve done so far people don’t see me doing comedy roles. But won’t that be interesting?” asks the 36year-old.
A self-confessed Salman Khan fan, Nazim cites the example of Khanstarrer Dabangg (2010). “Salman has always been my inspiration and he is an inspiration to many people when it comes to his career and fitness. Dabangg is a perfect mixture of action, comedy and romance. I would like to do a show like that on TV,” he adds.
