Janta Curfew: Artistes hold digital concerts to boost spirit

-

Extending full support to Janta Curfew — an initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote self-isolation and prevent the spread of coronavirus — many singers and artistes have announce d that they will hold digital concerts for their fans. Singer Sonu Nigam, who is currently stranded in Dubai with his entire family, will go live on his YouTube channel at 8pm on Sunday to enthral fans by performing some of his hit numbers. Urging people to stay indoors, Nigam says, “Enjoy the music while showing gratitude to India’s healthcare professionals. Also, don’t forget to spend quality time with your loved ones.”

Apart from him, a slew of musicians, including Ankit Tiwari, Akhil Sachdeva and Amaal Mallik, will come together at 4pm to perform in a digital concert – Safe And Sound. They will also take live requests. Singers Tulsi Kumar, Jasleen Royal, Palash Sen, Sukriti and Pakriti Kakkar, Jasbir Jassi and Richa Sharma, and actors Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta will also be a part of this initiative.

Promoting similar endeavours, pianist Anil Srinivasan has announced an online festival for the day and wrote, “I call out to all musicians, dancers, poets, writers, performers, visual artistes — on my list here and elsewhere — to share and engage audiences creatively all day Sunday, on Facebook or Instagram live. Stand-up comedians, theatre professionals — come on y’all. Let’s do this. Let’s use art to connect with one another, and share of our best...”

The performers will go live using the hashtag #JanathaCurfewOnline Festival.
