With a nationwide lockdown, there is not much to do for everyone staying inside their houses. This has, however, encouraged the master chefs to take to their kitchens and spread the cheer by talking about food and sharing fun recipes through social media. Celeb chefs such as Ranveer Brar, Saransh Goila, Kunal Kapur and Vicky Ratnani are sharing fun recipes through videos, vlogs, and even talking about subjects such as how to create immunity boosters — all this through their social media handles — to spread positivity and keep people engaged and healthy.

Chef Brar has pushed for healthy and mindful eating through his Twitter posts, and even shared a recipe. “We’re gonna take it up on social media in a big way over the next few weeks. I’m going to share with people, what I am doing in my self-imposed work from home; stuff that I wanted to but couldn’t. I will just walk to my fridge, see what’s there and cook that!”

“I can’t really prescribe as a chef what we should be eating at this time — what’s good for us and what’s not. We are at a time when your entire routine and life is upside down, so eat mindfully during these times, and be more aware of what you’re eating. Eating, besides the physical effect it has on your body, also has an effect on your mind and soul. And that happy effect comes from mindful eating,” he adds.

“We are #togetherathome and there is so much to share (sic),” says, Chef Saransh Goila, on Instagram. The chef goes live everyday at 9am, to share quick breakfast recipes and tips. “Nothing to do can be traumatic in many ways! So, I will make sure that people who follow me aren’t disheartened. The only way to cope up with that is to keep yourself busy at home. Cooking is relaxing, and keeps you distracted. My idea is that I will share one meal — that I

Kunal Kapur also recently shared a recipe of herbal tea, and wrote on Twitter: “With so many people at risk of infection, it is good to have some precautions in place. A simple herbal tea to help you detox and give a stronger immunity is what I suggest. #kunalkapurrecipes #coronavirus #covid19(sic)”.

Chef Vicky Ratnani, is also putting up videos of healthy recipes on his social media accounts. “I made recipes on the theme of ‘Let food be your medicine, and not medicine your food’. I used turmeric, citrus, lemon, alkaline vegetables. I made dahi ka broth, because yoghurt is a probiotic. Through these videos, I’m encouraging people to eat home-cooked food, and include oranges, ginger, and more vegetables, legumes, pulses in their diet.”
