A CHILD’S DREAM

This cute reader from Amritsar, Jass Rawal, sent us his drawing with this message. “I saw a dream that on July 22, 2020, a truck with Covid-19 vaccine written on it is going towards hospitals. I put my dream on a paper. In my excitement, I wrote May 22 on it. Now I’m trying to attract it by visualising my wish,” writes the 12-year-old.

NOODLES OF FUN!

Floor markings and perpex screens to keep people apart are so last month! These guests at a German cafe wore hats with pool noodles to respect social distancing! As Cafe Rothe in Schwerin reopened after lockdown, it gave its guests these quirky headgears to ensure that while people have fun, they stay six feet apart from each other.

COMPASSION IN COURAGE

Thousands of migrant workers have been walking for days braving heat, hunger and thirst to reach their home towns. Many have tied plastic bottles or bags on their feet to protect themselves from blisters. Agra Police set up stalls in Sadar Circle to give them footwear, food and water. We salute this cop helping a worker wear his slippers. Compassion for the weak is true courage!

LOCKDOWN LEARNINGS

Amitabh Bachchan shared a beautiful message on instagram, urging all to quarantine bitterness lying in a corner of our hearts. Who knows, we may end up saving a relationship from being put on the ventilator, wrote the actor. Parinneti Chopra also wrote on Insta that the lockdown is a chance to better our lives. "Anything/anyone that stops you from growing, from being happy, dreaming, needs to go," she said.

CONGRATULATIONS, DR MOOSE!

This one’s a busy guy! Dogtor Moose is an eight-year-old therapy dog who has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Virginia Tech, USA, in an online graduation ceremony during the pandemic! He has been working as the school’s therapy dog since 2014. This dogtor has helped countless students beat anxiety and other mental health issues.

DO GOOD, QUIETLY

An HT reader, Anil Vinayak, from Amritsar, saw a rickshaw puller, Baldev Kumar, roaming in the scorching sun, desperately looking for a passenger. Vinayak took a joy ride in his rickshaw, just to be able to help the man without embarrassing him. “When I signalled him to stop, a smile lit up his face. A 10-minute joyride compensated by ₹50 made his day,” writes Vinayak.
