‘There should be a limit, can’t take drastic pay cut’

Unlike her colleagues in the TV industry, who are either raring to get back to work or have already started shooting, actor Deepika Singh Goyal has no plans to resume work at least till the end of this year due multiple reasons.

“I’ve not been keeping well. After (my last show) Kavach, I suffered from low blood pressure. My condition was deteriorating and doctor suggested rest. I’m doing better, but given the situation, I don’t think I’ll be taking a risk anytime soon,” says the actor, who lives in a joint family in Mumbai and would prefer to stay away from home when she starts working.

Earlier, Goyal, 30, had taken a three-year hiatus after Diya Aur Baati and now taking this second break, does she fear being out of sight, out of mind? “Once an actor, always an actor. Sushmita Sen came back after years with her series, yet so much love she has been getting. Also, I’m not saying no to work, I’m being cautious. If I get interesting shows or web projects, I might say yes,” she explains.

On the issue of the proposed pay cut for actors, Goyal hopes for it to be a temporary thing. “Once situation gets better, we’ll all get back to how it was earlier. So, we need to hang on. But, there should be a limit to this cut. I can’t take a drastic cut. There needs to be a balance,” she adds.
