‘Wouldn’t be here today, if not for my struggles’

Much has been said about issues such as nepotism, favouritism, groupism in the entertainment industry, but singer Darshan Raval chooses to focus on working hard. He says, “We have to believe in ourselves... When your heart is pure, people will inevitably support you. My journey has been extremely beautiful. I’d say all my struggles were also beautiful because if not for them, I’d never be where I am today.”

Raval also says that he was supported by a lot of people along the way, adding, “When you are passionate, when you don’t let negative energy affect you, nobody can stop you.”

The pandemic hit showbiz hard, but that didn’t deter singers and musicians from releasing their songs. And staying true to his tradition, Raval, too, has released his annual monsoon single, Ek Tarfa. His sixth monsoon song, Raval says the track has a lot of pop and rock beats. “Saal mein sabse zyada mazaa mujhe barish ka gaana banane me aata hai,” he confesses.

However, he agrees it was challenging to shoot amid the lockdown. “When you do something in person, it’s easier, but thanks to the technological advancements, I could communicate digitally with everyone involved. The only problem we had was while shooting the song. We had a lot of limitations,” the Mehrama (Love Aaj Kal) singer says.

While the absence of live performances is a big setback, Raval, 25, asserts that we must first take care of ourselves. “That’s the only way hum apne desh ka aur duniya ka dhyaan rakh payenge... We can entertain people from the comfort of our homes,” he ends.

We have to believe in ourselves. When your heart is pure, people will inevitably support you. My journey has been beautiful...
