Colour coordinated in celebrations
Apicture speaks a thousand words, and when the hues are coordinated, it only adds to the charm. The trend of colour coordinating outfits, be it for a social gathering, family function or a portrait, is fast catching on, even among celebs. After all, who wouldn’t want Insta-worthy pictures! “The latest trend of wearing colour-coordinated outfits by families is not only a rage these days, but is also aesthetically appealing and a refreshing way of documenting your special occasions. The trick is to never go over the top,” says designer duo Bharat and Reshma, who feels colour-coordinating outfits is a great way to bond and share a laugh or two at #famjams. When it comes to showcasing the idea of togetherness with your loved ones, coordinating outfits or colours weaves magic. “It does show a sense of unity and definitely a feeling of belonging, like how you are a part of a family and it is incomplete without you,” opines designer
Swatee Singh, but is quick to add that one must not follow the trend blindly, and should be mindful of their individuality shining through the outfits. Citing the example of the family portrait shared by actor Ayushmann Khurrana, she elaborates, “The entire family is wearing the same pastel colour palette, yet the silhouette of each person is different, just as they are. Their individual style highlights their individuality, while they are together.”
Designer Bharat Ahuja believes dressing according to the occasion is important and should be taken into account when going for such coordinated outfits. “Planning and deciding on the pattern, colour and style of outfits is fun, and at the same time, a challenge, because the ultimate look should reveal the vibes of the occasion.”
He goes on to say that coordination without matching too much is the key to get the perfect look, and suggests, “Just make sure that it looks aesthetically appealing, so that it will be a treat to watch. If you don’t want to go for a fully colour-coordinated look, you can choose coordinated accessories and footwear. The only trick to remember is: don’t forget your own style in order to match ensembles.”
