Sustainable practices
While on a holiday, people are now increasingly adopting travel practices that help in reducing carbon footprint, such as visiting a traditional village in the vicinity, getting introduced to local farming practices, interacting with the villagers and even attempting to know more about their lifestyles.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) aids in the overall growth of young minds in several ways.
PYP caters to broadening the horizons of knowledge: The trans-disciplinary approach reflects the idea of eliminating the traditional margins drawn between subjects. This allows kids to think liberally and gather knowledge without inhibitions.
PYP approach is in line with NEP 2020: The new education policy (NEP) suggests removing age-old stream restrictions that deprived engineering students of the charm of poetry and history students of the magic of mathematics. “This is why, as one of the best IB schools in Delhi, we have adopted the progressive curriculum of PYP and are gratified with the way it has been aiding our budding geniuses to grow into successful global citizens,” says Suman Sharma, principal, K.R. Mangalam Global School.
Encourages instinct of curiosity and creativity: If we can stimulate creativity in young minds at the age when they are most pliable, it paves the path for future successes. The same is the objective of IB PYP i.e. to encourage the spirit of curiosity in every child through action-based learning.
“We, at K.R. Mangalam
Global School GK-I, follow the International Baccalaureate PYP. It is a progressive, inquirybased, trans-disciplinary approach that imbibes the elements of knowledge, concept, skills, attitudes, and action into the process of education,” adds Sharma. The PYP has been developed keeping the range of national and international curriculum-based requirements in mind.
Sharma also shares, “K.R. Mangalam Global School, GK-I, is the first IB school in Delhi which has an independent five-acre campus. The school has indoor and outdoor sports facilities such as rifle shooting, squash, chess, golf, skating, horse riding, tennis, cricket, etc. The school has its own well-structured day boarding facility, which also facilitates cultivating in children a habit of self-study, helping them become independent learners. It also offers various after-school programmes, such as Speech and Drama Center (Trinity Certification), Indian and Western Dance, Vocal and Instrumental Music.”
