Gyms have been shut for long now, and with time, we’ve finally adapted to home workouts. If you are someone who can’t workout for long, but would want to stay fit, Tabata is the one for you. This workout regime has found many takers, including actors Mandira Bedi and Sara Ali Khan, who’ve spoken about its benefits from time to time.

“Tabata is not just a fad, it is a form of a fast-paced, high intensity interval training. Many are now turning to it, owing to the plethora of benefits it offers, and because it can be done in a shorter duration of time. It is perfect for people who don’t prefer long hours of workout, but would still like to opt for something intense,” says fitness expert Anushka Nandani.

Tabata training includes a minimum of four rounds of exercise, each consisting of 20 seconds of intense activity, followed by a 10-second break. The 20 seconds of activity requires an individual to give it their all, making it an intense cardiovascular workout. The intensity would pace up the heart rate and metabolism,

P thereby encouraging fat loss. Being an aerobic activity, it also improves heart and lung capacity and hence, overall fitness. Each round lasts for around four minutes, and one exercise may be repeated eight times, followed by the next exercise.

“You can choose four to five body weight exercises, but you need to give it your all! It is said to burn calories and give you maximum results. It is tiring no doubt, but worth it, as you get awesome results. It’s addictive, too,” says fitness guru Jinnie Gogia Chugh.
