RIP Ankur Bhatia: Hoteliers mourn man with a Midas touch
Ankur Bhatia, 48, of The Bird Group, whose Roseate Hotels have a presence in several cities across the world such as New Delhi, Rishikesh and London, among others, died of a cardiac arrest on Friday. His demise left the hospitality industry in shock.

“It was an honour to have known such a wonderful person. He was a passionate soul and a supportive industry colleague. I would always look forward to our meetings and conversations,” said Anupam Dasgupta, general manager, The Leela Palace New Delhi. “It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Ankur Bhatia. We offer our deepest condolences to his family,” said Nitin Kapur, director, Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi Airport.
“He had always been such a great advocate of Aerocity and all its hotels. It is a great loss for the industry,” said Nitesh Gandhi, general manager, JW Marriott New Delhi.
Chefs who worked closely with Bhatia over the years too had fond memories to share. “I have worked with him for more than eight years, he was a visionary. He always welcomed new ideas and always invested in the team. He had a great sense of humour. I’ll miss him. I have never seen a personality like him, full of positive energy and ideas. I am deeply shocked by the news of his demise,” said chef Nishant Choubey.
