I contacted my doctor, and even consulted my son’s paediatrician. HARSHDEEP KAUR, Singer

Igot my first jab,” an ecstatic Harshdeep Kaur had said, recently, in an Instagram post. And now, the singer is encouraging other lactating mums to follow suit.

“I had a lot of apprehensions before getting the vaccine, as I’m breastfeeding,” she continues, “My doctor said it’s absolutely safe; I even consulted my son’s paediatrician. After getting positive responses from both doctors, I was convinced.”

The Dilbaro (Raazi, 2018) singer, who gave birth to a boy, Hunar, on March 2, goes on to urge new mothers to get the jab, so that they stay safe. “The government has allowed it, I’m sure safety was considered. Also, in other countries, it’s considered safe for lactating mothers. After getting a go-ahead from my doctors, who are experts in their fields, I am encouraging other mothers to take the jab,” she says.

Recently, actor Geeta Basra, who is expecting her second child with cricketer Harbhajan Singh, had said pregnant women “should not risk vaccination”. But, Kaur, 34, feels, “It is best to follow what your doctor tells you.”

Having embraced motherhood just over three months ago, Kaur has shared glimpses of her little one on her social media, at a time when many celebs are choosing to keep their children away from such platforms. “I believe my fans and well-wishers will only give blessings to my son. That is why I’ve shared his pictures,” she reasons.
