Scam 1992, Asur and The Family Man (TFM) — it wouldn’t be wrong to say the web has given Sharib Hashmi’s career a new lease of life. “I completely agree. It has revived my career, and how!” the actor exclaims.
Hashmi made his debut with Filmistaan (2012), and things slowly began to change. But, nothing substantial came his way. In fact, he recalls how the work he did wasn’t even getting noticed. “I did a few independent films, which came and went. I was trying to do some interesting films as well. Some got shelved, others got stuck midway. Saal nikalte ja rahe the. Then came The Family Man, and it completely changed things for me. And, season one was followed by Asur and Scam... OTT is a boon for me. I am very thankful,” he shares.
What he wasn’t prepared for, though, was the response to TFM’s second season. “I had huge expectations of my own. But when the show started streaming, my expectations were more than met; it was beyond my imagination,” the 45-year-old gushes.
Going forward, the actor has a number of exciting opportunities lined up, including Mission Majnu, alongside Sidharth Malhotra. Talking about shooting for the film during the Covid-19 scare, Hashmi says, “We are taking all precautions, and everybody has got their RT-PCR tests done. The crew is always in masks. Otherwise, things are going on smoothly; it’s like normal days. We are getting back on track.”
