PARK, PUB OR SABJI KI DUKAAN: MEETING ON HAI!

Which is the quirkiest place where you’ve had to be in office meeting @WFH?

- Anjuri Nayar Singh

Running out with a phone in your hand to find a quieter place to take that call from office for meeting or team discussion, is something that most of us are guilty of doing. Especially since the pandemic made the culture of work from home (WFH) an inseparable part of our lives. For most of the time since the pandemic hit, the scare of Covid-19 did force many of us to remain indoors, but that couldn’t hold back the need to make essential trips such as the one to the neighbourhood vegetable vendor or the scheduled visit to the doctor.

“I’m expecting my second baby and went for my scheduled scan to gynaecologist,” says Ishita Bhatt, a Gurugram-based environment consultant, adding, “When I was there sitting amid crying babies (because of vaccine shots), expecting mothers and the entire hospital staff, I got a call from office to discuss about an ongoing project. And I had to take it! Then, it was time for the staff to monitor my blood pressure, so my one hand was being used to get my BP monitored and in the other hand I held my phone to talk and solve matters at work. It was weird, but I’m sure I wasn’t the only one on a work call because I saw a few more people on the laptops while waiting for their turn.”

Since the boundaries between the personal and professional seem to have blurred, many say that it has become common to take work calls and be present in meetings in between household chores. And here are some more denizens who share about the unusual places or situations in which they have had to be part of office calls or meetings!
