I visited college for practical work. However, I’m more excited to chill with friends and enjoy food from our canteen that I’m visiting after such a long time! KAKSHIMA BHARADWAJ, Final-year student at Miranda House

Finally! Delhi University reopened on Wednesday, for final-year students. But, nothing could deter youngsters from flocking the campus to unmask their fears and get back to masti ki pathshala! As theory lectures continue to take place online, students visited their colleges mainly to jam together, share a cup of tea/coffee, return books and attend practical classes.
“No amount of online teaching can make up for face-to-face interaction. Meeting friends after a year-and-a-half feels so good! We’re headed to Kamla Nagar to grab a bite now,” says Hamza Mattoo, final-year student, St Stephen’s College.
A walk towards Hindu College enabled us to see students playing musical instruments and cracking jokes over hot cuppas. Anshika, a second-year BA (Prog) student at Miranda House, says: “I came to return library books and pay the fee. I’m waiting for the time we’ll all be allowed to return... I’m running out of excuses!”
Colleges, on their part, are taking necessary safety measures, giving graduates the confidence to hang out at their fave spots. Urvashi Dabas, a student of Daulat Ram College, 2016 batch, who visited a tapri near her college, says: “I came here with my best friend for tea and snacks, as I got to know colleges have reopened and hangout zones will soon come back to life... I missed visiting the chaiwallahs during the lockdown.”
