Actor Willie Garson, best known for popular series Sex and the City and White Collar, has passed away. He was 57. Garson died after a battle with cancer, his manager John Carrabino confirmed to Deadline.

The actor’s adopted son, Nathen Garson, shared the news of his father’s passing on Instagram. “I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much. I’m so proud of you. I will always love you, but I think it’s time for you to go on an adventure of your own. You’ll always be with me,” he wrote, calling him “the toughest, funniest and smartest person I’ve known”.

On Sex and the City, Garson gained popularity for his role as Standford Blatch, a stylish talent agent. He reprised his role for the spin-off films Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010), and was set to appear in the reboot series, And Just Like That…

Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda Hobbes in the series, wrote on Instagram, “We loved him and adored working with him. He was endlessly funny on-screen and in real life.”

Mario Cantone, who played Garson’s husband, Anthony Marentino, in the series, said he was “devastated and just overwhelmed with sadness”. “You were a gift from the gods,” he wrote on Instagram.

Matt Bomer, Garson’s co-star on White Collar, also paid an emotional tribute on Instagram. “I still haven’t wrapped my head around a world without you in it – where I can’t call you when I need to laugh, or be inspired,” he wrote alongside a series of photos of him and Garson. “Save a place for me, because you know I want to be at your table up there,” Bomer added.

White Collar creator Jeff Eastin paid condolences on Twitter, calling Garson “the best of us”.
