ALLOW ALL THOSE VAXXED: DU FINAL YEAR STUDENTS
Delhi University (DU) recently reopened gates selectively for final year students to attend practical classes, after a one-and-a-half-years long hiatus. But this hasn’t gone down well with most students due to the absence of theory classes.
“Internet is still not available everywhere in India. So online classes continue to remain a luxury,” opines Divya Bhatia, an outstation student in her second year of BA (Prog) at Deshbandhu College, adding, “We want DU to reopen for at least all the final year vaccinated students, regardless of who has practicals and who doesn’t. And after reopening the colleges for third year vaccinated students, the authorities could analyse the situation and call second year vaccinated students from next month or so.”
Echoing a similar sentiment, Saim Moosa, a final year student of B Com (Hons) at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, adds, “Most of the students are suffering from depression and anxiety. A lot of them have toxic households and they’re stuck there 24X7, which is harming them.”

No parent will send their children just to go to the library or for 30 minutes of lab work and attend everything else online from PGs. Final year students like me are afraid that even if colleges reopen like this, our time will be consumed in juggling between the online and offline classes. Na idhar ke rahe hain, na udhar ke!
