The D-day is finally here for Delhi University (DU) aspirants, with the first cut-off list releasing today. The anticipation and nervousness about whether or not they make it into their dream college is but expected. And many students are looking towards good luck charms and rituals that can help them stay calm and hopeful.

“I think I speak for every DU aspirant when I say that good luck charms and exercises are the most comforting thing in these stressful times. Whether they yield result or not, they sure do distract us from the stress. For example, I’m trying to manifest my admission into my dream college by keeping a positive vibe. I recently read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, and the concept of the universe helping us manifest our dream life really stuck with me! I mean, what’s the harm in trying? There are some exercises in that book that I’ve been diligently following to keep my morale high,” says Shivangi Khanna, a DU aspirant from Delhi.

While it’s trying out luck enhancing practices after reading new-age books for some, other students have chosen to go down the religious route. “My parents are extremely religious and their faith in God has rubbed off on me. So, hoping to get into the college of my choice, I’ve been fasting and praying. They say prayers can move mountains. I think the least it can do is put you in a positive mind frame, which in turn gives you the strength to face whatever is in store for you. I think exploring spirituality has been a wonderful experience and whether it proves to be my good luck charm or not, I know I’ve used my time positively, rather than being anxious and overthinking,” says Rajat Kapoor, a DU aspirant from Gurugram.

And it comes as no surprise that many internet-savvy youngsters researched good luck charms online ahead of the cut-off stress. “Lucky charms are quite interesting! Whether it’s chancing upon the four leave clover or seeing a double rainbow, every student will be looking for a good luck sign today. As we scan the first cut-off list to see which college we’re eligible to get admission in, students will be holding on tightly to their lucky charms,” says Pallavi Gupta, a DU aspirant from Noida, adding, “For me, it’s the ritual of getting up from the bed’s right side in the morning. I’ve researched online and found yogic reasons as to why getting up from right side is favourable. And whether it helps me get to my dream college or not, it has certainly piqued my interest in yoga. So there’s something positive coming out of this exercise!”
