Make fasting fun: Sago, chia seed, pumpkin snacks for Navratri
N avratri fasting is the perfect opportunity for detoxification and weight loss as there is ample scope to give healthy twist to whatever we eat. Ingredients such as buckwheat flour, water chestnut flour, sabudana amaranth flour, are generally eaten during this time. They are loaded with protein and gluten-free.
So, if you are tired of the same khichdi and kheer for every fast, here are a few delicious low-calorie recipes using sabudana, chia seeds and buckwheat flour to try.
SABUDANA SQUARES Ingredients
Sabudana 1 cup l
Boiled potatoes 2 no. l
Roasted peanuts 1/2 cup l
Sendha namak l
Green chilli l
Coriander leaves l
Method
Make a mixture of the ground l
sabudana, boiled potatoes, peanuts. Knead it into a dough. Add salt, green chillis, coriander leaves and mix well.
Spread this mixture on a thali l evenly and cut out squares using a knife. Let it sit for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
Deep fry or air fry. l
CHIA SEEDS PUDDING
Ingredients
Chia seeds 2 tbsp l
Coconut milk 1/2 cup l
Sugar (optional) 1 tsp l
Banana in slices 1/2 no. l
Method
Mix the sugar in coconut milk. l
Soak the chia seeds in the l
coconut milk overnight or for two hours.
Top the chia seeds pudding l
with banana slices.
PUMPKIN BUCKWHEAT PAKORAS
Ingredients
Pumpkin in small pieces l
Buckwheat flour 1 cup l
Tapioca flour 2 tbsp l
Green chilli l
Coriander leaves 1/4 cup l
Method
Make a batter of buckwheat l flour, tapioca flour, green chili, coriander leaves and salt using water.
Heat oil in a pan. Dip the l pumpkin in the batter and cover well. Quickly, fry the batter in the hot oil.
