MALVIYA NAGAR KE MOMOS ARE THE BEST

- Anjuri Nayar Singh

anjuri.singh@hindustantimes.com elhi, for actor Adaa Khan, is a ‘chill-out zone’! From bingeing on her favourite street food to hanging out with friends, moments and memories galore for Khan, who is popular for television shows such as Naagin and Amrit Manthan. On her recent trip to the Capital, she confesses her deep love for shopping, Dilli ke momos and more!

DFriends = Chilling

Whenever in Delhi, Khan makes sure that her friends are aware of all that she wants to do. “I plan whatever I am in the mood for and I tell my friends. Sometimes, I just come to chill, eat and drive around. From here (Delhi), I can go to Himachal (Pradesh). Yahaan se direct flight bhi mil jaati hai, yahaan mere friends bhi hain, so kahin bhi nikal jao... When you have your friends, it becomes a chill-out zone,” she says.

Delhi momos are her fave! If there’s anything Khan was adamant to do on this trip to Delhi, it was relishing momos! “When I think of Delhi, what comes to mind are Nizamuddin Dargah and momos here! And, Malviya Nagar ke momos are the best. They keep calling me back to Delhi!” she gushes, adding, “In fact, I pack for my friends as well. At times, if they want some dishes from a particular restaurant, I get it packed for them. And, I had this butter chicken at Old Delhi, it was amazing!”

‘Really want to go to Chandni Chowk’

Khan is extremely fond of shopping in the city, but admits that she doesn’t get much of a chance to do that now. Reminiscing fond memories from before, she says, “When I used to come earlier, I used to love buying juttis. I also used to buy some lovely Indian kurtis and even bedsheets from here, because they are really interesting. I remember that I used to go to Sarojini (Nagar) for those. And in GK, you get such good footwear!”

Khan has been warned by her friends about the crowded, narrow bylanes of Old Delhi. But, the actor is still keen on visiting the area.

“I have never been to Chandni Chowk. I really want to go there, just to see it. Everyone has told me not to go there, but I really want to go. I have heard that it is overcrowded and that it is the oldest place in Delhi. I was watching this documentary on Chandni Chowk a while ago and was just so intrigued seeing everything and learning about the poets who used to stay there,” she says, sounding super kicked about the recent revamp of the place: “I saw how they have made it completely new, and I have heard a lot about what you get there, a lot of bridal stuff, right? I have heard ki jiski shaadi hone wali hoti hai, woh log wahaan zarur jate hain!”

Want to portray Sita Maa in Ramlila

Though Khan has never seen a live Ramlila in the Capital, and has only watched it on TV, she would love to be a part of one someday. And, ask her which role she would like to play, and she is quick to reply: “I like Hanuman, but obviously I won’t be able to enact him! Sita Maa is the role I would like to play, if offered a part in Ramlila... She is the purest. She has gone through a lot, and even had to give the agnipariksha. I really adore her!”
