Akshay Kumar to play war hero Major General Ian Cardozo in Colour Yellow Productions’ Gorkha
After collaborating on Atrangi Re and Raksha Bandhan, actor Akshay Kumar and director-producer Aanand L Rai are joining hands again.
Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions and Kumar are working on a biopic titled Gorkha, which is based on the life of the legendary officer of the Gorkha regiment of the Indian Army (5th Gorkha Rifles), Major General Ian Cardozo.
It will be helmed by National Award-winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan and the makers are proud to bring this story of sacrifice and valour on screen.
Kumar will be essaying the role of the war hero, who fought in the wars of 1962, 1965, and most notably in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. Being a film about a war icon, the actor has decided to present it himself.
Producer Aanand L Rai says, “We are honoured to bring the story of a legendary war hero, whose name goes down in history for his immense courage in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, on screen.” He adds, “I am also excited to work with Akshay sir again, for the third time.”
