Bride-to-be actor Shireen Mirza is as happy as they come! While her wedding is planned for October 23 in Jaipur, she has a fancy reception on October 25 in Delhi, arranged by her in-laws. Mirza, who became popular with the TV show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, says that her fiancé, Hasan Sartaj, is making sure that the reception is fullon Dilli style!

“My expectations are very high and I am excited to have my reception in Delhi. The city is close to Jaipur, where I am from, and I used to visit Delhi so much. It’s amazing that I’m shifting to Delhi after marriage,” Mirza tells us over phone from Jaipur, adding, “Chaats in Delhi are outstanding! I was telling my fiancé ki please kisi ko bolna ki side mein chaat laa ke mujhe khila de. I don’t want to miss it just because I am the bride.”

In fact, the 33-year-old made sure to binge on a lot of street food while preparing for the wedding. “When the rishta happened, my in-laws called me specially to have chaat. I went to this bazaar in Lajpat Nagar where they have different dahi bhallas. I’ve always been very fond of chaat and what can be better than to have it in Delhi! Then, at Old Delhi, I had nihari at Karim’s. That’s my ultimate favourite. I was wearing a burqa, as it gets a little awkward (being a celebrity),” she says.

After Delhi’s food, it was shopping in the city that enamoured Mirza. “My fatherin-law is very protective of me. He did full recce and shortlisted a couple of stores for me. I went to two or three and decided to buy my wedding and reception outfits from a store in South Extension,” she says, adding, “For wedding, I’ve chosen a lehenga. It’s red and the chunni has something written in Arabic. For my reception, I’ll wear a pastel rose coloured gown with a trail and Hasan is matching his tuxedo with it.”

Mirza also shopped at other popular markets in the city. “Initially, it was tough as the second wave had begun. We were not sure of where to go. We went to Rajouri Garden and it was so crowded and I was worried that my parents would also be going there,” she adds.

And now that the number of Covid-19 cases have gone down in the Capital, the actor and her fiancé have a long list of places they want to visit. Mirza tells us, “We didn’t meet much during our courtship days, and when we did, we just went out to eat. That’s why I’m so excited now! We’ve made a list of places. I love the cafes near Qutub Minar. There is this lake which has a nice open-air restaurant. We’re both foodies and there are so many places we’ll certainly go to.”
