‘IF I GET A CAMEO THAT HAS AN IMPACT, I’LL DO IT’

Elnaaz Norouzi feels when you take up a forgettable role, what difference does it make if you do it or not

Actor Elnaaz Norouzi would rather wait and be patient than take any role that comes her way. This is why she is comfortable with the fact that she has only completed a few projects.

Her reasoning is that when you take up a forgettable role, what difference does it make if you do it or not? “For me, it depends on the magnitude that my role has. And hence, it is about the script and the director. If I have a cameo in a Hindi film that has an immense impact, I will do it,” says the 29-year-old, whose role as a scheming actor in Sacred Games got her noticed.

And she applies the same formula to her strategy in Hollywood too. Kandahar, in which he stars with Gerard Butler, will see her in a small yet pivotal role. Norouzi continues, “Kandahar will have that impact.” It is incredible. The fact that I got to work on a Hollywood film with the biggest of production houses says it all. There will be progress for you as long as you think about the actor in you and only focus on the role you are playing, not the other unnecessary things like how much screen time you are getting. How does that make any difference?”

She cites the example of a film that changed her perspective. “I don’t remember the name of this film, which I watched some time back, when I was contemplating my next career move. I went to watch a film that had a lot of actors in it. Blink and you will miss it. One actor had the least amount of time on screen. He stole the scene. It shook me. He had just one scene, and in merely five seconds, he managed to do that. It changed my perspective on acting. If you manage to do that, then your job as an actor is done. I just want to make sure whatever I am doing, people can feel it,” she concludes.
