HThe best thing about a web show is that we have a fixed story from start to end. So, as an actor, you can build a graph. KANIKA MANN, Actor

aving done daily soaps for five years and a recent OTT project, actor Kanika Mann is keen to do more web shows. She enjoys the certainty of a well-defined script, where she can portray a character better and set a graph for its growth.

The Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega actor says, “The best thing about a web show is that we have a fixed story from start to end. So, as an actor, you can build a graph.” Comparing this to TV, she explains that often, actors are unaware of how the story will unfold in the medium, “In my daily soap, I ended up playing a mother, a daughter and a ghost… things I did not know on day one. But as actors, we know that is the format of a TRP-driven daily soap.”

Mann is quick to add that there is also much to relish while working on TV shows. “People are watching you every day and you are reaching every household. TV gives us social security and good money. But I do get more creative satisfaction on OTT,” she says candidly.

Born and brought up in Panipat, Haryana, acting happened for Mann by chance. “I have learnt everything on the go. People ask me what my acting process is. I just put myself in the character’s shoes and build it accordingly. It’s not an easy thing as it enters my personal life too. In my latest series, I played a 19-yearold who is very mature. Since I am 28, it was tough to maintain the bubbliness of a teen. But I enjoyed the process of balancing out everything.”
