CHRIS LOWELL LAMENTS LACK OF REALISTIC DATING THEMES IN SHOWS

Alot has changed in the world since the pandemic, and that includes the dating scene as well. However, that is hardly reflected in the stories on screen, feels Chris Lowell. The actor, who was recently seen in How I Met Your Father, says this was one of the reasons that he decided to be a part of the show, which explores the modern culture of online dating and apps.

“The one great question [I asked myself] when I was thinking about joining the show was, why do we need another show because we just did How I Met Your Mother?” Lowell tells us.

And he found the answer in the changing reality around us. “The one big thing that has changed in our life is how much of it is digital now. How much of our life is spent online, and how much we communicate through apps, be it for work or relationships. And there aren’t a lot of shows that really explore that new dating landscape,” adds the 37-year-old.

Lowell, who has also featured in films such as Up in the Air (2009), The Help (2011) and Promising Young Woman (2020), asserts that it is important to navigate the current truths of how people connect with each other now. “And there is no judgement in that as to whether it’s the right way to connect or not,” he says.

“Because at that end of the day, [what matters is] friendship and a sense of community. That gets us through the tough times in our life. And it is a great thing that I get to explore it through my project especially after almost two years of us all living in isolation,” he wraps up.
