QUANTUM, THE FIRST NFT D&G AUCTIONS FASHION NFT
Quantum, an octagon-shaped animation by New York artist Kevin McCoy, is the first NFT ever created. It was the first work to be associated with an NFT-type certificate of ownership in May 2014, three years before the term NFT was coined. It was sold for $1.47 million at Sotheby’s ‘Natively Digital’ auction in 2021.
In 2021, Dolce & Gabbana (D&G) auctioned a nine-piece collection of digital NFTs called Collezione Genesi, during the Venice Fashion Week, for 1,885.719 Ether ($5.7 million). Buyers of the NFT also received physical versions of the outfits and exclusive access to D&G events.
STONER CATS
What makes this interesting is that if one wants to get access to this adult animated short series, they can only do so by owning a collectible Stoner Cat NFT. The NFT project is backed by actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher. As per the website, “The series is centred on five house cats who mysteriously become sentient. With their higher consciousness, they realise that their beloved owner, Ms Stoner, needs rescue from a myriad of dangerous situations. With great flowers comes great responsibility. “
