ANSHUL GARG SMASHES RECORDS WITH AKSHAY-STARRER SELFIEE
The record label Desi Music Factory (Play DMF) has delivered some chartbusters, from Coca Cola Tu and Dheeme Dheeme to Dil Ko Karaar Aaya. With Akshay Kumarstarrer Selfiee, their first film album, its young founder Anshul Garg has become a strong force in the Indian music industry.
Selfiee, which also stars Emraan Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty, is directed by Raj Mehta and backed by Star Studios and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
Associating with these biggies in the industry has been like a dream come true for Garg. “Akshay sir has always been a great support since the very beginning and with a creative powerhouse like Karan sir, it feels amazing to work with the best in the field,” Garg says.
And for their filmi debut, Play DMF has delivered amazingly with the first track, a reprise of the iconic track Main Khiladi. “To be a part of this song’s legacy is unreal. It has crossed over one million reels on Instagram and is almost touching 100 million views on YouTube within a week of release. I feel blessed to see the response,” he gushes.
Raising the bar for promotions, the label made actor Salman Khan make his reel debut with #MainKhiladi, in a collaboration between Khan and
Kumar. The video broke the internet and created a record of sorts, clocking over a million views within a few hours of its release. Presently, the reel has over 65 million views.
Kumar says, “Anshul is such a bright and young entrepreneur who knows the pulse of the audience. Collaborating with him has been a great experience. Recreating Main Khiladi brought back so many memories and the success it continues to achieve is really gladdening to see.”
Garg promises that they have some big plans to unveil the rest of the Selfiee album, adding that it’s going to be a marketing campaign that has never been seen before in Indian cinema.
