Make hay while the sun shines seems to have found a new meaning among couples in NCR eager to capture sun-kissed ceremonies
Atypical #DilliKiShaadi would have the bride and groom posing for photos all night, entertaining their relatives, staying awake for pheras and rituals. But, that’s no longer the case, as recent wedding ceremonies of celebs including Athiya Shetty-KL Rahul and more recently, Kiara AdvaniSidharth Malhotra have ignited a craze for sundowner weddings. The motive?
Aesthetic, lovey-dovey sunset pics!
Siya Hardi, 26, a Noida-based engineer who got married last month, says a sunset wedding was long on her mind, and what sealed the deal was the pictures from the Sid-Kiara wedding. She says, “Raat ke mahurat mein nobody really sticks around. Afternoon/evening shots made for a glorious wedding album. Ek hi baar shaadi karni hai, photos toh achchi honi hi chahiye!”
Vouching for the love of sunkissed pictures is Ayush Agarwal, a Delhi-based wedding photographer. “Bollywood deeply influences wedding trends — be it a small, intimate ceremony or a grand one. Everyone wants to go viral with their decor and dresses. Couples now give us, photographers, mood boards. We also need a certain amount of engagement on our photography pages, so we go along with these ideas,” says Agarwal.
For couples getting married in the era of sundowner weddings, it’s also about emulating their fave stars on their special day. “My wife made sure my safa is exactly like what Vicky Kaushal wore at his wedding,” shares Kartik Kaushal, 28, an entrepreneur from Gurugram. His bride, Kanchan Parashar, 26, who is also an entrepreneur, adds, “We got the namaste photo like Sidharth and Kiara’s. My bridal entry was like (actor) Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ from her Christian wedding, with a bouquet of flowers. And all the photos are sun-kissed, just like (actors) Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s wedding. Our whole wedding film has bright sunlit shots now!”
