Actor Mithila Palkar has become quite a popular face thanks to projects such as Little Things, Karwaan (2018) and Chopsticks (2019). While today, we see people becoming actors after making it big on social media, it was the other way round for the actor.

“I never started as, for lack of a better word, an influencer. For me, it happened the other way around. As I was always an actor, I made the switch from that to being an actor-influencer,” the 30-year-old shares.

Most would think having a good number of followers on social media landed her roles in good projects, but Palkar asserts that it was her hard work, not just the fan following. “For me, it was never about ‘Instagram pe popular hai toh isko kaam de dete

The number of followers was not the deciding factor for my work. I’ve always auditioned for roles.

hain’, woh kabhi nahin hua mere saath. I have always auditioned for the roles I got. The number of followers was not the deciding factor for my work,” she adds. The actor’s play, Dekh Behen, recently staged its 100th show, and she feels “privileged” to have been a part of it since the opening in February 2018. “I look at everything as work, and not the medium they are meant for,” she asserts.

As the Ori Devadu (2022) actor has had ample experience on the web, is there a genre that she is no longer willing to touch? To this, Palkar exclaims, “Arey! Itna hi toh kaam kiya hai!” She adds, “I have done so many rom-coms, but I still feel like I want to go back to them. I don’t think there will ever be a point where I will say, I can no longer do it (a specific genre).”
