Actor Kishwer M Rai, who has been active in the TV industry for close to three decades, feels she has not got her worth from the small screen. The 41-year-old tells us, “I do not complain about it anymore because I have reached a stage where I just want to make money. Wo time chala gaya when I wanted to prove my worth.”

She adds, “I wanted to prove to the world that I can do this role or can do that role. Now, it is like I know I can and when I get it I do it. And, even if I don’t I am fine with it.” Rai, who has been part of the shows like Hip Hip Hurray, Ek Hasina Thi, Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar, and others further elaborates on not getting her worth in the TV industry.

The actor asserts, “Earlier, TV was like they just used to typecast you. Agar koi vamp play kar rahi hai toh vamp hi play karegi. It was all about that.” Noticing a big difference, Rai adds, “Now, there is still scope. I can still probably do a role of a cop that I always wanted and that would be like a no makeup look with a bun which I know I can carry off. But people probably in the industry who still don’t think I can because they have always feltKishwer matlab glamorous roles. I have kind of made my peace with it.”

Pointing out another change in the industry, the actor shares, “The big change is we started doing shows which are more real and they are well shot and it is not regressive anymore.” Rai, who has notably done two movies namely Bheja Fry (2011) and Hum Tum Shabana (2011), also tells us she preferred doing TV over movies as she always wanted good roles or else she would stick to television adding, “I just kind of did that and it made me happy also. It is very challenging. People think that doing TV is easy because you do so many scenes in a day which is not the case in movies.”
