Holi may be a few days away, but NCR-based pet parents are already geared up and booking pre- and postfestival grooming sessions for their furry babies. While many of them are dialling numbers to make appointments in advance and avoid the last-minute rush, pet groomer, too, are noticing a surge in demand for their services, in the days leading up to and after the festival.

Pet parents are going all out and some are even signing up their pets for specialised grooming packages. “We’re already getting five to six appointments per day for the pre-Holi care package,” says Ishant Mishra, a pet groomer from Uday Park, adding, “Most people are bringing in their pets for nail clipping and trimming before the Holi parties begin.”

A pet groomer and vet from Moti Bagh, Niharika Taneja, mentions that pet parents are mostly worried about the clean-up of their pets after the celebrations. “We have 23 appointments booked for the day after Holi,” says Taneja, and Hazel, a Gurugram-based pet salon owner, chimes in, “Although they try to keep their celebrations pet-friendly and avoid colours, yet they choose to be safe than sorry. This is the reason why most of them are making appointments in advance, as they probably won’t get one immediately after the festival.”

Getting the perfect grooming centre is also a matter of trust for many pet owners. Gurleen Kaur, a pet parent from Hauz Khas, shares, “We checked with four pet grooming centres in south Delhi before booking an appointment for our Bella, because most of them weren’t taking any extra appointments for the day after Holi. We booked a complete package for bath, blow drying, nail clipping and massage for our baby.”

Sharing a similar sentiment is Prince Dhingra, a pet parent from Vikaspuri. He says, “I have booked a post-festival care appointment for Zeus with his usual groomer beforehand, because being a husky, he requires special care in all cases, and Holi is no exception.”

Zeus will play Holi for the first time this year. To make it a good celebration for him, I planned a post-festival care appointment for him beforehand. PRINCE DHINGRA, A pet parent from Vikaspuri
