‘Spring’ into action now to rejuvenate and renew your skin for the season!
The dry and cold winter is thankfully over. But the change in weather can still affect your skin. The breezy spring air may feel pleasant, but you should be careful of the skincare products you use during this period.
Dr Rinky Kapoor, a Delhibased dermatologist, shares some foolproof skincare tips for spring. “Winter can be tough on the skin, so spring is when you need to brighten up the skin and bring your A-game when it comes to sun protection.” She suggests some small changes in your skincare routine to get healthy, glowing and radiant skin.
DITCH THE THICK AND HEAVY FOUNDATIONS
In this season, thick creams can cause blockages in pores, leading to breakouts. Switch to lighter products like BB or CC cream, mineral powder foundations and use a micellar water makeup remover.
SWITCH TO LIGHTWEIGHT MOISTURISERS
Using a heavy occlusive can trap dead skin cells in the spring and make it look blotchy. Use moisturisers with hyaluronic acid, hydrating ingredients, and gelbased ones with ceramides, as they are quickly-absorbed.
GO FOR PRO PEELS
It’s a good time to see a dermatologist for a chemical peel treatment. It removes the dead skin, rejuvenates, reduces blemishes and dullness, and lightens the spots by removing the top layer of the skin.
DON’T SKIP EXFOLIATION
These days, it is essential to exfoliate the skin as you tend to sweat more. But look for gentle exfoliating products containing fruit acids from grapes, papaya, pineapple, or pumpkin.
ADD ANTIOXIDANTS TO YOUR DIET
Add a dose of antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and niacinamide to your daily routine. They will shield the skin from damage while also acting as anti-aging agents
OPT FOR ASTRINGENT CLEANSERS
An astringent cleanser will help retain the shine and keep the skin sweat-free. The hydrating cleanser is more suitable for the night routine.
WATCH OUT FOR ALLERGIES
Puffy bags under the eyes might be because of pollen or other allergens, which can also cause more pronounced wrinkles. Keep an eye out for the triggers and ask a doctor for preventative measures.
UP YOUR SPF GAME
The UVA and UVB damage from sun rays that you ignore today can have a cumulative effect on the skin later. Use a sunscreen with a minimum of 50 SPF every day.
