Delhi-based band Faridkot is set to perform at the India Folk Project by Fever FM and they feel on cloud nine at the moment. At the event slated to take place in Gurugram this weekend, the two-member band will collaborate with music composer Amar Jalal, with whom they worked on the folk song Nasha.

“Gurgaon, or Gurugram, as they now call it, is like my hood! I have many fond memories of growing up here. The crowd here is always super energetic and loves music. We are really looking forward to performing in front of a vibrant audience,” says Rajarshi Sanyal, the guitarist and founding member of Faridkot.

Vocalist, IP Singh, too, feels great to be performing at India’s biggest folk event. “Folk music is an intrinsic part of us. So, naturally, we feel closer being at this festival.”

The two-day long festival will see some of the biggest names from India’s folk music circuit including the likes of Amit Trivedi, Harshdeep Kaur and others.

Excited to witness such a lineup, Singh shares, “We feel honoured and privileged to know that we will be sharing the stage with some of the biggest musicians in the industry. I am sure those who will attend this festival, on both the days, are going to cherish the moments for the rest of their lives.”

Though Faridkot didn’t reveal much about their setlist for the festival, the duo promises that their set will be in tune with the theme of the festival. “Folk music never died down, but people have now started understanding it and enjoying it. The reaction to a song like Nasha isa testament to that fact. Even at this festival, our set will be more around folk music and will aim to make people aware about the beauty of folk music in India,” Sanyal signs off.
