With DU students’ tryst Holi Insta thrifting for
Holi is inching closer, and Delhi University (DU) students are all set to make a vibrant style statement, ditching worn out/ old clothes for new ones. In the quest to look their stylish best, but sustainably, college goers are turning to local shops or stores on Instagram to bag nifty deals on thrifted goods.
“I’ve purchased three outfits for Holi from Instagram,” says Palak Sinha, a final-year BSc Life Science student at Ramjas College, adding, “One is a white shirt and denim shorts for college, another is a cute crop top and shorts. The third is a beautiful chikankari suit for the evening, when the colours are put away.” Instagram, as always, is also lending outfit inspo to those looking to ace their #HoliLook. “I bought an embroidered dupatta from an Insta store after seeing it in their reel. This is my fave purchase and costed only ₹800. I’ll match it with a salwar kameez I bought from Sarojini Nagar for ₹500,” says Ashita Singh, a second-year Hindi (Hons) student at Kirori Mal College.
Outstation and foreign students have also hopped on to the trend. Take for instance Rahul Agrawal, a second-year BFIA student at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, who’s back home in Nepal with a backpack full of fashionable Holi attires! He says, “Everyone was so happy seeing the clothes I got for them. They aren’t from Sarojini or Lajpat Nagar, but thrifts from Instagram stores, where I got great deals... I’ve lost track of how much I shelled out (laughs).”
