IWP ACADEMY CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF SKILLBASED EDUCATION
IWP Academy, a leading institute offering skill-based education in vocational and professional studies, celebrated 25 years of excellence through its signature annual festival, Meraki 2023 at Hyatt Centric, New Delhi.
Youth empowerment through financial independency and skilling has long been talked about. But, in practice, only a few have worked towards making it a reality. IWP Academy’s Meraki 2023 is an effort in this direction — to skill up the youth so that they can be empowered and financially independent. A cultural event that encapsulates the message of making an empowered society by empowering the youth, Meraki 2023 saw a host of performances including fashion shows, dance performances and skits.
Swati Maliwal, chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women, was the chief guest. Eminent personalities from the worlds of fashion, sports, media and polity attended the do hosted by Vishal Nijhawan, managing director, IWP Academy. Also present were Anubha Nijhawan, executive director and Kunal Guliani, centre director, Model Town. Fashion designer Lalit Dalmia, Rapper Maddy, PK Bhardwaj (IPS retired), ACP Rajeev
Ranjan (IPS) and Abhijeet Sinha, program director, Ease of Doing Business, were some of the industry leaders who mentored students with their vast experiences and ideas.
Meraki gives the students a plethora of information and offers an open access to professionals in the fashion and lifestyle industries. With its attempt to help them network with industry stalwarts through meet-and-greets, IWP’s efforts have been to connect students with active professionals.
Vishal Nijhawan said, “The need to uplift the status of society has long been our prime concern. Development via empowerment is the thought that I like to live by and I believe this should be the mantra we all have to adhere to, in order to make India truly self-reliant. The institution’s motto has always been to deliver quality education to students of all communities, in any phase of their lives and at all levels, and to provide information that is relevant to comprehend and boost their self-esteem. Through Meraki, we are trying to impart a crucial value that transforms a woman into a woman of substance, purpose and confidence.”
Music, dance and theatre performances were a part of the programme. The event progressed with a colourful fashion show, where students from all branches of IWP Academy across India showcased a collection of ethnic, Indo-western and western attires. The students were involved in the entire process of making the garments — from designing, sketching and buying the fabric to stitching and embroidery. This aspect of polytechnic education gives the students the muchneeded confidence and zeal to continue performing well.
Lastly, awards were conferred upon deserving students in each category of the fashion show. The judges, guests and everybody in the auditorium were all praise for IWP Academy.
