HOLI AFTERCARE 101
Played Holi to your heart’s content? Now is the time to pamper your skin and hair with some TLC (Tender loving care). Certain Holi colours such as those containing chemicals can leave your skin dry and dull and your hair brittle. From nourishing do-it-yourself (DIY) face packs to home-made body scrubs, these easy yet vital tips can help deal with your beauty woes and keep you glowing.
FOR THE SKIN
It is important to pamper your skin the right way. Do not use harsh chemical scrubs; instead, use a home-made scrub or a gentle cleanser to wash off rigid colours. Don’t skip the standard CTM — Cleansing, Toning, Moisturising — routine. Secondly, avoid taking a hot shower for a few days as it can leave your skin dry and parched. After you shower, moisturise your body well with a rich, nourishing lotion. You can also consider oiling your skin to pamper it. Also, whip up a luxe body pack made with oats, yoghurt and coconut oil and use once a week.
For the face, it is advisable to use rosehip or argan oil for those who have dry and oily skin, respectively.
FOR THE HAIR
Colours may remain in the hair days after Holi and even after various washes. For the coming few days, make sure to oil the hair regularly before washing. Opt for nourishing products that also soothe the scalp. Do not fret if the colour does not leave in one go as it can take a few days for the hair to retain its natural shine.
After rinsing, don’t miss applying leave-in cream and hair serum to the lengths of the hair. Moisture retention is essential at this point. You can apply a rich hair serum or cream with jojoba oil to provide nourishment.
After Holi, treat yourself to a hair treatment like a fusio hair scrub with an oil boost to deep clean and revitalise your hair, a hair detox cleansing or even a simple hair spa. This will get any last vestiges of the colour out without damaging the hair and adding a boost of muchneeded moisture.
