Actor Shaily Priya Pandey finds the whole debate around television being the most stressful medium for actors totally pointless, as “pressure is everywhere”.

“There is no denial that we are working long hours throughout the month and are left with little or no ‘me time’. But, that’s the case in every other industry,” the Queens Hai Hum actor says, adding, “Pressure is everywhere and it’s almost the same for all youngsters. What matters is that this is the right time to earn and save. Also, job security is a must, so I have no problem working longer shifts. At the end of the day, it’s my show and that should be of utmost importance.”

The actor, who has found a footing in the industry with shows such as Pavitra: Bharose Ka Safar, Maa Vaishno Devi and Shaadi Ke Siyaape, feels now is the time to be selective. She says, “For an actor’s career, visibility is a must, initially. But with time, you have to be a bit particular about your projects — like what the storyline is and how your character will shape up on screen. I have been fortunate that I got to play all central characters in a short span. This helped me find my footing in the industry.”

Going forward, Pandey plans to take it slow: “For now, all my focus is on my ongoing show that has earned me many rave reviews as the protagonist. I am hopeful that things will look brighter for me after this show. It’s a fact that TRP does matter and as an actor, if your show manages to get numbers, one can be hopeful of a more stable future.”
