AAs soon as I got to know that the centre stage would be given to someone else, I decided to quit the show. SHAKTI ARORA, Actor

ctor Shakti Arora has confirmed that his ninemonth-long journey on daily soap Kundali Bhagya has come to an end. The reason? He wants to do characters closer to his age.

While talking to us exclusively, Arora shares, “I did not want to play the father of a 28-year-old. That is the major reason.”

But that’s not all. Arora also reveals that he was not comfortable playing a secondary character in the show that once featured him as the lead.

“You lose the centre stage. Till the time I was there in the show, whole story revolved around me. I was playing [double roles] Karan and Arjun. That was good and exciting for me as an actor. Maza aa raha tha kaam karke kyunki television me itna achha kaam milna mushkil hota hai. But as soon as I got to know that the centre stage would be given to someone else, I said, ‘Okay, I will peacefully exit and let other people take control of the show now’,” the 36-year-old says.

The Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi actor feels if he has signed a show for a certain character that belongs to a certain age group, he needs to be portrayed like that, till the show lasts.

“Main rahunga show ke last tak, basharte aap mujhe meri age ka hi rakhenge. You can’t suddenly show a 30year-old as an 80-year-old man on screen,” he tells us.

The actor also took to social media where he thanked the cast and crew of the daily soap in a heartfelt note.

What’s the way forward, we ask. Arora mentions he is in talks for a couple of TV shows as well as OTT projects. “I will talk about it after things are finalised,” he wraps up.
