Ed Sheeran gets candid about his not so ‘Perfect’ personal life

-

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran was recently seen getting extremely emotional when talking about his wife Cherry Seaborn’s poor health and the sudden death of his best friend and first mentor Jamal Edwards.

It was in the trailer of a new four-part docuseries that the 32-year-old was seen breaking down in the back of a car.

The multi-award-winning artiste recently said that he had “spiralled” into depression after his wife was diagnosed with a tumour while she was pregnant last year, which delayed her treatment, and Edwards, 31, died of a heart attack due to substance abuse in February 2022, according to dailymail.co.uk.

There is also a clip of the Celestial singer crying on stage, with his wife saying, “I’ve never seen him cry on stage.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the Shape of You singer also talked about his past struggles with body image and eating disorders. He said, “I’m self-conscious anyway, but you get into an industry where you’re getting compared to every other pop star. I was in the One Direction (band) wave, and I was like, ‘Well, why don’t I have a six pack?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, because you love kebabs and drink beer’. Then you do songs with (singers) Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes. All these people have fantastic figures. And I was always like, ‘Well, why am I so... fat?’”

Sheeran went on and explained that the situation escalated and resulted in him developing an eating disorder, admitting that he related to singer-songwriter Elton John, who shared in his memoir, Me, that he struggled with bulimia for six years.
