‘NCP CORPORATOR SUBMITTED BOGUS CASTE CERTIFICATE’
The Mumbai metropolitan district deputy collector has stated that the caste certificate submitted by NCP corporator Sangeeta Yadav is bogus.
There have been a number of objections raised against the caste certificates submitted by the corporators while contesting from the reserved wards in the recently concluded civic elections.
Yadav, from ward 6, was elected from an OBC reserved ward. A local resident Durgavijay Pal had sought information on her caste certificate under Right to Information.
Pal said: “The office has stated that the certificate submitted by Yadav has not been issued by it. I have learnt that the office has sent a letter to municipal commissioner Dinesh Waghmare as well. The letter states that the caste certificate that Yadav has shown has not been issued by the Setu office as claimed. It states that the signature and the stamp on the certificate are bogus.
While Sangeeta could not be contacted, former corporator Ramashish Yadav, her close associate, said: “We had formally applied for the caste certificate following the due process. It has also been verified by the Konkan division caste certificate scrutiny committee.”
NMMC deputy municipal commissioner, Amrish Patnegere, the election officer of NMMC elections, said: “I have got reports, but haven’t received any official intimation on it. Action can be taken only after we have the official documents.”
