40-YR-OLD KILLED, 1 INJURED AFTER CAR RUNS OVER THEM IN JAIPUR

JAIPUR: A 40-year-old man was killed and another was injured when a car ran over two people in Jaipur’s Shipra Path area on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

“The incident took place near a restaurant where both the people were sitting on the footpath. Meanwhile, a speeding black car suddenly approached, went on the footpath, and ran over one of them while another was also hit,” said the inspector of the Accident (South) police station, a special police station in Jaipur that only deals with accident case in the area, Subhash Vishnoi.

The victims were immediatel­y rushed to the Sawai Man Singh hospital where one of the victims was declared dead, police said.

“The deceased was identified as Pappu Gurjar, a native of Sawai Madhopur,” said Vishnoi. “Another victim identified as Naresh Meena (32), a native of Tonk, sustained minor injuries. He was also discharged following a primary treatment,” he added.

According to police, the car that hit the two men and the person driving it couldn’t be identified as of now. “The car escaped the spot immediatel­y. So, the locals could not catch it. We are checking the CCTV footage and will arrest the accused soon. Further investigat­ion is underway,” Vishnoi said.

The police have also sent the bodies for a post-mortem examinatio­n. “We have also informed their families. A case will be filed after their arrival,” he said.
