COOKERY
As the dark chocolate melts into a luscious liquid, small girls look on with enthusiasm in their eyes. Elderly Mrs Alim gives the satiny mass in the glass bowl a gentle stir with a silicone spatula and spoons out blobs into the plastic moulds.
This chocolate- making workshop at Mrs Alim’s cookery classes are a runaway hit as kids line up in groups to learn how to make their own chocolates. Among the other delicacies that she teaches children to make are sandwiches, ice- creams, salads and a variety of chaats. “Nothing that involves cooking with fire,” she smiles. Besides the cookery classes, Mrs Alim also hosts art and craft classes for children.
