HIGH ON HISTORY
Maulana Azad Library is the second largest university library in Asia with more than 11.5 lakh books/ documents. Royal decrees of Mughal emperors such as Babur, Akbar and Shahjahan are highlights of the collection. In 2011, the university set up two full- fledged centres in Malappuram ( Kerala) and Murshidabad ( West Bengal). Beginning this year, the university has started restoration of heritage buildings within the campus at a cost of Rs 250 crore. In 2011, AMU began work on an astro turf for hockey with a budget of Rs 3 crore. It will be ready by the end of this year.
