Maulana Azad Li­brary is the sec­ond largest univer­sity li­brary in Asia with more than 11.5 lakh books/ doc­u­ments. Royal de­crees of Mughal em­per­ors such as Babur, Ak­bar and Shah­ja­han are high­lights of the col­lec­tion. In 2011, the univer­sity set up two full- fledged cen­tres in Malap­pu­ram ( Ker­ala) and Mur­shid­abad ( West Ben­gal). Be­gin­ning this year, the univer­sity has started restora­tion of her­itage build­ings within the cam­pus at a cost of Rs 250 crore. In 2011, AMU be­gan work on an astro turf for hockey with a bud­get of Rs 3 crore. It will be ready by the end of this year.
