Pewter room

- By Anandita Gupta

Adding a bit of chic to the food scene in Chandigarh, The Pewter Room set up by Chandigarh- based couple Anu and Ganeev Bains recently opened its doors in it’s posh Sector 26. True to its name, the plush interiors flaunt a generous use of pewter ( gray slate), besides gold and copper. The uber- swish décor lavishly displays pomp and everything about the 46- cover restaurant stays true to this glamorous display. From the 25 foot long textured wall worked over in gold leaf, the leather couches, Turkish dome lights and wooden wine rack to the twin menus that look like books, its all about style here. Even the food is served in golden plates and the staff is dressed in uniforms by designer Ritu Beri.

The cuisine here is traditional and the international wines and single malts are paired with innovatively tweaked Indian, Italian and Thai recipes. The beverage menu brings on board signature cocktails using Indian spices, which complement the dishes in the food menu. Apart from the delicious nibbles offered here, The Pewter Room also offers a great selection of dessert with the menu listing combinations such as the Berry Experience ( chilled berry and dark mousse, served in a rich chocolate box, garnished with hot balsamic berries and vodka jelly). The restaurant is set to host regular events such as supper theatre, stand up comedy, book launches, celebrity chef evenings, guest DJs and musical evenings as part of their entertainment repertoire.
