ALL THROUGH THIS MONTH

-

White weekends If you’ve grown up on Christmas films like Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and Home Alone and have always longed for a white Christmas, you now have a chance to frolic in snow, bang in the middle of Pune. At FREEZE, a new snow park that opened last month, there is ice and snow all around. You can skate on real ice rinks, then watch the snow piling up on the wooden reindeer while sipping on steaming cappuccino at the bar. Spread across 5,520 sq ft, this amusement park housed in the busy Inorbit Mall, offers a mix of adventure and fun . You can go ice skating on real, sturdy ice sheets in the Arctic Circle section or play with soft snow in another area named the North Pole, a snow- themed park where you have snowflakes dropping on your head and turning the entire area into a cottony white zone, reminiscent of winters in the mountains.

An amusement park needs its share of food and drinks, which the FREEZE Bar offers. If you can brave the 4° C temperature, sip on their iced teas and icewhipped coffees or stay warm with a cup of steaming cappuccino. With Pune’s pleasant winters, not too many have a wardrobe of heavy jackets and boots so the park provides these to keep you warm in temperatures that range from minus 4 to 4° C inside the sprawling snow park. The rates vary according to the section and activities. In the Arctic Circle, 30 minutes of ice skating costs Rs 225 which includes ice skates, protective skating gear and training by professional instructors. In the North Pole, 30 minutes of play time with the required gear comes for a fee of Rs 225 while a combined package of both sections costs Rs 400.
