The latest addition to the list of novelty eateries in Khader Nawaz Khan Road is Fresca’s Pizza which offers New York City’s trademark pizzas right here in Chennai. With their hand- tossed crust and tomato mozzarella topping, the pizza joint is sure to make you feel like you’re right in the middle of NYC. Having opened their doors only two months ago, the pizzeria has an informal décor with red furnishing, casual metal furniture, spacious wooden tables and a large blackboard in the corner that announces the day’s specials.
As soon as you’re seated, complimentary foccacia bread slices with tomato garlic dip are provided to get your appetite warmed up for the tasty feast that is to ensue.
It is a good idea to try some of the more exotic dishes as well here, such as the Ajo Blanco, a splendid cold soup made with bread, crushed almonds, garlic, olive oil and green grapes or the field greens and pear salad.
Also try the traditional Neapolitan style crusted pizza made with Italian flour and hand- rolled. Fresca Pizza is not your typical pizzeria where orders come with timed servings and select toppings.
The preparation is as elaborate as the variety and as a result, a 10 or 11 inch pizza can cost anywhere between Rs 450 and Rs 600.
